Home ABOUT BRWA Mission Statement

Our Mission, Vision, and Values

Our Mission Statement: The mission of the Bad River Watershed Association is to promote and protect clean water resources in Wisconsin's Lake Superior basin.

Our Vision Statement: We envision a future where citizens are stewards of their watershed.

BRWA Values: Our work is guided by our belief in and commitment to:

Expanding Scientific Understanding
The best available scientific methods serve as the foundation for action and decision-making about our watershed resources. Collection and sharing of data provides a greater understanding of the current state of our water and land. Baseline data help us document the high water quality we currently enjoy. Continued monitoring allows for early detection and quick responses to emerging problems.

Engaging Citizens
The most powerful force in the pursuit of our mission is citizen action to protect their watershed. Citizen action may include monitoring, civic involvement, and continued learning. Engaged citizens make our community and our organization strong.

Informed Decision-making
An increased understanding of the watershed enables individuals and the community to participate effectively in the decision-making process, resulting in thoughtful and balanced choices.

Collaborative Efforts
Collaboration with any group that shares our commitment to the health of our watershed brings increased knowledge, complementary expertise, and resources. The waters we depend on are better served when a shared community accomplishes a common goal.
